Alyssa Peterson is a Special Assistant for Half in Ten at American Progress. In this role, she works to promote economic security for all Americans.
Alyssa graduated from Georgetown University in 2014 with a bachelor of arts in government and a minor in women and gender studies. Prior to joining the team, Alyssa served as a policy analyst in the Office of Vice President Joe Biden, where she was a member of the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault. Alyssa also interned at the Office of Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD), the White House, the Center for American Progress, Hilltop Public Solutions, the Office of Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), and the Office of Rep. Debbie Halvorson (D-IL).
While at Georgetown, Alyssa founded the Georgetown Student Tenant Association to protect students from abusive landlords and organized a national campaign of student government leaders in response to rising student-loan interest rates.
