Colin Cookman

Policy Analyst

Colin Cookman is a Policy Analyst for National Security at American Progress. His research and writing at American Progress focuses primarily on issues related to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and American policy toward the region. He served as a member of Democracy International’s election observation team in Kabul during the 2010 Afghan parliamentary elections. Colin graduated from Boston University magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in international relations in 2005. Prior to his arrival at the Center in January 2008, he was employed as an assistant language teacher in Karatsu City, Japan, and as an assistant advisor with Habitat for Humanity International’s Summer Youth Blitz Program. He is a native of Bloomington, Indiana.
