Ashley Benner

Policy Analyst

Ashley Benner is a Policy Analyst for the Enough Project at American Progress. She focuses on the Lord’s Resistance Army conflict and its impact in the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda.

For more than seven years, Ashley has worked on human rights, conflict resolution, and environmental protection issues. Most recently, she was a consultant to the U.S. Institute of Peace, researching the prevention of mass atrocities and violent conflict, and a consultant to the International Coalition for the Responsibility to Protect. She has also worked on a project developing conflict resolution best practices in West Africa.

Ashley holds a master of international affairs from the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, where she studied human rights, conflict resolution, and U.N. studies, and a B.A. in peace and justice studies and economics from Wellesley College. She is proficient in French and a beginner in Swahili, Arabic, and Mandarin Chinese.
