Political Reporter, ThinkProgress
Reports to: ThinkProgress Editor-in-Chief
Staff reporting to this position: None
Position classification: Exempt, full-time
American Progress has an immediate opening for a Political Reporter to work with the team that produces ThinkProgress. This position will be required to cover state and federal election cycles and produce original reporting on candidates and lawmakers from across the country.
- Cover elections and political news for ThinkProgress.
- Build relationships with lawmakers and campaign sources.
- Travel around the country to report on events and candidates.
- Other research projects as assigned.
Requirements and qualifications:
- Strong research and writing experience.
- Familiarity with campaigns, politics, and Congress.
- Familiarity with ThinkProgress and progressive news.
- Willingness to travel.
- Ability to quickly respond to news developments.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of HTML, Photoshop, RSS, video editing, and media monitoring services helpful but not required.
