Education Policy Analyst
Reports to: Vice President for Education Policy, Director of Education Policy

American Progress has an immediate opening for a Policy Analyst for Education Campaigns. The Analyst will collaborate with team members of the ThinkProgress War Room and the American Progress Education team to produce analysis and materials relevant to education policy reforms, particularly state implementation of the Common Core State Standards.
Responsibilities: In particular, the Analyst will focus on conducting actionable research, producing rapid-response materials, tracking policy developments across 10 to 20 key states, and writing policy papers. The position will require strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills—along with a demonstrated capacity to complete projects on a tight timeline.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Strong skills as a writer and researcher.
- Excellent project-tracking and time-management skills.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the standards-based framework for public education, especially as it relates to low-income and minority students.
- Experience working on analytical projects in an advocacy context.
- At least two years of experience in campaigns, legislative advocacy, quantitative analysis, journalism, or related fields.
- Commitment to American Progress’s mission and goals as they relate to education reform.
